Tim Smit on beauty and purpose
May 23, 2014
Beauty, it is such a misunderstood and appreciated term. Why do we strive to create beautiful things? And why is it that it is beauty that endures? Endures beyond us, our lifetimes and even our civilisations. There is a saying, when civilisations die the only thing left is our culture. The value, the true and lasting value is made through creating enduring beauty. Not money nor utility, nor the measuring of everything.
Tim Smit – is a rare individual in the English landscape. A man born of passion, commitment who can make the impossible – possible. He recreated the gardens of Heligan in Cornwall and then went on to create The Eden Project. If anyone is ever interested in what it takes to make it happen – this talk will inspire you to do so.
